"Inglite aeg" Charity Programme Raised 128,476 Euros for the Cancer Treatment Foundation

The "Inglite aeg" charity programme broadcast on 18 December on TV3 raised funds for five people in need, two of whom – a family man named Erik and a grandmother named Irene – are supported by the Gift of Life cancer treatment foundation. 128,476 euros are given to the foundation for supporting cancer patients, ensuring continued crucial treatment for Erik and Irene.

Erik, from Tartu, has been fighting malicious lung cancer over the last years. The Health Insurance Fund does not cover his treatment, but the cancer treatment foundation has been funding it monthly over the last two years. His treatment will continue, ensuring that his daughters, Karmel and Marion, have their dad and Margit, his wife.

Irene, from Pärnu, is suffering from late stage lung cancer. The cancer treatment foundation started supporting her treatment this autumn. She wishes to see her grandchildren, Andri and Janelle, grow up and spend as much precious time as possible with her only daughter, Helina.

"We would like to thank all benefactors, the crew of TV3, all musicians who appeared and everyone who gave their contribution. Together you gave those in need hope and a special feeling of Christmas Peace, time to spend with their loved ones and a chance to focus on maintaining their health and going on with their treatment," said Katrin Kuusemäe, the CEO of the Gift of Life cancer treatment foundation.

The Inglite aeg charity programme was broadcast for the fourth time this year. Singers who appeared were Valter Soosalu, the winner of the latest Your Face Sounds Familiar, Karl-Erik Taukar, Tanja Mihhailova-Saar, Getter Jaani, Birgit Sarrap and Ivo Linna. The programme's host was Keili Sükijäinen. The purpose of the programme is to raise funds and support specific ill-fated people, who find it really difficult to overcome their situation by their own means. This year's programme helped five people in need.

Inglite aeg broke a record this year by raising 321,190 euros for five people in need. The raised sum will be distributed evenly between the five, and the funds of Erik and Irene will be given to the Gift of Life cancer treatment foundation.

Previously Inglite aeg has raised funds for children's treatment, for instance. The most outstanding recovery was the one of a little boy named Sander, who was born deaf, but thanks to a complicated surgery can now hear. Little Karmo has also made an incredible recovery. He used to spend most of his time in casts due to his rare genetic disease, but today he can walk on his own.
